Paul Heyman has spoken out about Cody Rhodes' departure from AEW.
Cody Rhodes' position at AEW
At AEW, Cody was an executive vice president and was integral to the founding of the company.
The reason for the departure of Cody Rhodes
Cody and his wife Brandi left All Elite Wrestling on February 15, 2022 after the parties were unable to agree on a new contract.
Paul Heyman's thoughts on Cody Rhodes' departure
In a recent interview, Heyman shared his thoughts on Rhodes' move and said that Cody was determined to continue his father Dusty's legacy in AEW.
He suggested that Cody, probably against his will, did not participate in AEW's decision-making process at the end of his tenure. This "suspension" of Rhodes may have led to his departure.
Cody Rhodes pursues his father's dream
"He is one of the founders of the company, in many ways this is his concept, a lot of the initial stage was tied to him, and Cody always had a dream - to take the place of his father, not only in the ring, but also outside the ring. And I am absolutely not surprised that at some point, after reducing his role in the development of the company, he broke down and said: "This is not what I originally intended, and I want to see what life is like elsewhere," Heyman said.
