AEW is phasing out MJF?
Maxwell Jacob Friedman has been removed from the AEW roster, his merchandise has been removed from sale, and his AEW Dynamite 6/1 promo has not been uploaded to AEW Digital.
How did the problem between MJF and AEW start?
On Wednesday at AEW Dynamite, Friedman spoke eloquently about his frustrations with AEW and Tony Khan in particular. The speech, of course, touched on the size of the salary. Friedman stated that former WWE wrestlers are paid more, despite the fact that it is on him that the company is kept. At the end of his promo, he rudely begged Khan to fire him before the mic was turned off. The screen faded to a commercial, and the episode was not mentioned again in the program later.
As MJF mentioned,
MJF says the people in the back can have his spot because he doesn't want to be here anymore. That Tony Khan won't give him more money because he's spending it on all the ex WWE guys, and questions if he would be getting treated better if he was an ex WWE guy. MJF demands that Tony Khan give him his money or fire him
AEW's reaction after what happened
This segment has not been covered by AEW's official social media accounts, which post videos of all promos and matches from AEW TV. His promo was not uploaded to AEW YouTube.
In the AEW store, Friedman's page has been removed from the list. Searching for "MJF" only shows DVDs of AEW shows.
He was also removed from the official roster on the AEW website.
MJF's situation
Friedman was in the headlines after the Double or Nothing weekend as he missed the fan festival on Saturday and booked a flight from Las Vegas on Saturday night but did not board the plane, opting to appear at AEW Double or Nothing. He said in an interview that he showed up shortly before his match, which opened the pay show, and left immediately after.
